Green Marine Verifications – Ports, Ship Owners, Ship Repair Facilities and Marine Terminals

Since 2016, Blackbird has completed Green Marine Environmental Verifications for Ports, Ship Owners, Ship Repair Facilities and Marine Terminals. The verification process is done by a certified Green Marine Verifier to confirm whether or not the participant has met levels (1 to 5) claimed for certain environmental performance indicators including:

  • Aquatic Invasive Species
  • Aquatic Ecosystems
  • Greenhouse Gas and Air Pollutants
  • Spill Prevention and Stormwater Management
  • Dry Bulk Handling and Storage
  • Cargo Residues
  • Oily Discharge
  • Community Impacts
  • Environmental Leadership
  • Ship Recycling
  • Underwater Noise
  • Waste Management
  • Community Relations

Every two years, the participant is required to have an external verification. The verification is done in person on the company’s premises, unless there are extraordinary constraints. It is carried out based on the documentation provided by the participant, site observations and interviews of employees and interested parties.
